The inaugural Kandy International Film Festival (KIFF) was held in 2011 at the Kandy City Centre. The festival takes place over 4 days and features commercial and independent films and documentaries of many genres and from many countries. Among these are some which make their Asian premier at the festival. The festival brings together many celebrities and renowned artists for an exchange of ideas on one platform. The aim of the festival is to showcase the merits of lesser—known or underrated films to a global audience and get the general public talking about it. The feature films are carefully chosen to ensure the highest quality, authenticity, talent and ambition. KIFF committee hope to increase awareness and educate children and young people, by encouraging participation and allowing opportunities to work with established artists. Viewers will be able to witness the use of new technology in film-making.
