The Galle Music Festival is the sister event to the Jaffna Music Festival. The inaugural event was held in 2011 in Jaffna to an audience of over 13,000. Since then, the event has been held for consecutive years. This music festival showcases both local and international artists, playing various genres of music: folk and classical, to fusion and contemporary. The Music Festival will act as a medium for the traditional artists to interact, and share and exchange ideas, with each other. The festival, which will be held on two consecutive days, transforms the venue into a colorful music village. The performance area will be arranged inside village-style traditional huts mirroring Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage and multi-ethnic community. The Galle Music Festival is implemented by Sevalanka Foundation, in partnership with Concerts Norway and funded by the Royal Norwegian Embassy.
