Colombo Fashion Week (CFW) started in 2003 and was aimed at boosting Sri Lanka's fashion industry. Since then, the annual event has been firmly established as an eagerly-awaited event in Sri Lankan society and is one of only three shows in Asia which have been running for over ten years. Colombo Fashion Week showcases primarily two seasons: Spring and Resort; the shows feature collections and designs from not only Sri Lankan designers, but those from the neighboring countries of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh as well. The fashion week comprises of many events, such as the Design Trunk Show, BRIGHTSPARK launched in 2014, Fashion+Food in addition to the main shows. During the week, these events are spread throughout the CFW Fashion Village. Three major awards are given out: Lifetime Achievement Award, Gen-Next award and the Face of CFW award. The event is sponsored by HSBC, ODEL and Land Rover among other major corporations.
