The rugged hiking and trekking trail to Ella Rock – located in Ella Town in the Badulla District, Sri Lanka – may not be extremely challenging. However, without the help of an experienced guide, travellers may find it difficult to make their way through the vegetated hills as the path can be a little tricky.
Considered one of the best hiking adventures in Sri Lanka, your hiking journey to the top of the Ella Rock begins in the Ella town, followed by a winding path through thick tea plantations in shades of vibrant green, rustic railways, a dense forest, and so much more. The entire journey may require about 3 to 5 hours, so make sure to keep yourself hydrated during the hike.
After completing the trek in about 2 hours, you will reach the peak of the Ella Rock where you will see beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, including gorgeous views of the “Ella Gap.”
If you start the hike early in the morning, you can catch the spectacular sunrise – it would be a sight to behold.
